Relocate to Fort Worth

Blue Zones Project®

Going hand-in-hand with the FitWorth Program is the Blue Zones Project®. In August of 2014, Texas Health Resources paid $500,000 for an evaluation of the city’s suitability for the program. After review, the city council, including Mayor Betsy Price, voted unanimously to put the program into action for the next five years.

The goals of the privately-funded program are to generate savings in medical expenses, lower obesity and smoking rates, increase vegetable consumption, and increase physical activity, for starters. To reach these goals, the Blue Zones team has targeted key areas in the community, including schools, restaurants, employers, grocery stores, and faith-based organizations, to ultimately lead to a higher quality of life for all Fort Worth residents.
